In November 2015, Tetra was approached by the operator of a busy Dubai-based mall to provide a test to determine the effectiveness of its product Drain-LifeTM, a microbial organic liquid waste digester. The client was experiencing problems with accumulation of Fat, Oil and Grease in their two main 3500 litre grease traps. Tetra set up a trial which involved application of Drain-LifeTM in a one-off shock treatment followed by continuous monthly dosing via propriety peristaltic dosing pumps.
After 12 days, the layer of fat in the grease traps was reduced by 67% from 150 mm to 50 mm. The odours emanating from the grease trap were also notably reduced. No mechanical interaction or cleaning was undertaken during the period. The client has since chosen to continue the application of Drain-LifeTM via the dosing pumps and is saving money on reduced cleaning costs and other reactionary measures.
