In January 2017, Tetra was called out to a blockage at a large restaurant in Dubai Marina. The Tetra team identified the location of the blockage in the main line after the kitchen hood drain which was too solidified to clear using a spring. The team noted that the previous day, another of the restaurant's contractors had visited to clean the kitchen hood. The sediment from this was largely soot and grease which had been pushed into the hood drain by the hood cleaning contractor and was causing the blockage in the main line. Tetra returned later in the day before the evening dinner rush with a jetting machine to clear the blockage.
In light of this callout, Tetra advised the restaurant management to alter the plumbing in the network so that the kitchen hood drain would join the drainage system line before the grease trap. Any errant soot and grease from kitchen hood cleaning would get caught in the trap and not cause blockages in the main line.
